Pokemon Ultra Sun Ultra Moon

In a Pokémon Direct earlier today, two new main series Pokémon games for Nintendo 3DS were announced. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be releasing globally on November 17, 2017. The games were described as enhanced versions of last year's Pokemon Sun and Moon versions. They apparently will take place in an alternate universe and will feature a number of new Pokémon. Nothing else is known about the games and how different from the original Generation 7 games they will be. You can check out the full Pokémon Direct below for some footage of the games in action.

It seems that the developers at Game Freak are once again taking the Black 2 and White 2 approach instead of the "third installment" that was popular before Generation 5. It is a little disappointing that the games won't be coming to the Switch as the rumored Pokémon Stars, but the decision makes sense when you look at the history of Pokémon releases. We'll surely get a main series Pokémon game on the Switch before too long, whether it be a remake of Diamond and Pearl or an entirely new Generation 8 pair of games. Will you be picking up Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon even though they aren't coming to Switch?
