During E3, I had the chance to attend a side event called the MIX. Known formally as the Media Indie Exchange, the event was an opportunity for press to play a bunch of indie games and talk to the developers. It was a great time and you can read about some of the other indies we got to try out, including A Hat in Time and Light Fall. During the event, while I was wandering around checking out some of the great games, I...

We've known that SteamWorld Dig 2 was coming to the Switch before any other console for some time now. It was pegged for 2017 when announced, but the kind folks over at Image & Form have narrowed down the release window. The game is "pretty much finished now", and will be released in a few months after a final polish. This means that the game will land on Switch during the late summer or early fall. It will release ...

Nintendo surprised us all at E3 by announcing Metroid Prime 4, but they surprised us even more with the reveal of the Metroid II remake everyone in the Metroid community has been clamoring for. But why exactly is it that fans desired a remake to begin with? And is MercurySteam really up to the task? We at Nintendo Castle have taken these considerations into account and put the original Gameboy outing up to the pedestal...

It's been rumored for some time now, but Nintendo has finally announced that they will be putting out a Super Nintendo Mini for this holiday season. It's official title (at least in America) is the Super NES Classic Edition. It will be coming out on September 29 and features 21 excellent games. Seriously, the line-up is killer, you can check it out below. Among many greats (Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, EarthBound, et...

I first heard of A Hat in Time back in 2013 when they launched their Kickstarter. I even included it in an article on Nintendo Castle when it was still planned for release on Wii U. This was two years before Yooka-Laylee launched their Kickstarter, so the idea of a modern day retro-inspired collect-a-thon was especially exciting. Since 2013 (the year the game was originally slated for release) the only news I’ve h...

Tornado Tower is a game developed for VR. It is an indie game and was shown during The MIX at E3 2017. The game is slated to launch for Oculus Rift and requires the Oculus Touch as well. For those who don’t know, Tornado Tower is a 3rd person platforming game where you play as two characters to traverse a world looking for gate keys and other loot. I was at The MIX and walked up to Tornado Tower. The presenter as...

Most people were quite surprised when Bandai Namco revealed their latest game at Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference. Dragon Ball FighterZ is the newest addition to the anime-fighter and Dragon Ball worlds. The game is co-developed by Arc System Works, a well known name in anime fighters, and pits characters from the Dragon Ball universe against each other in epic battles. The game will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, and ...

Hunting Simulator is exactly what the name implies, a simulator for hunting. It runs on Unreal Engine 4 and features several aspects that make it feel more lifelike. The graphics are not too shabby either and worked very well for the game. My time with it at E3 2017 was both fun and challenging, which is what I expect in a game. To start off, I didn’t have a presenter when I initially sat down to play the game. I...

We've known about Salmon Run in Splatoon 2 since the April Direct, but we haven't seen much of it since the initial reveal. Luckily, Nintendo had Salmon Run available to demo at E3 this year and we got a chance to try it out. My time with the game was rather brief, but I'd like to share my impressions nonetheless. For those unfimiliar, Salmon Run is a new local/online co-op mode in Splatoon 2 that can most easily be de...

The folks over at Starbreeze Studios are happy to announce that Dead By Daylight is now available in North and South America on PS4 and Xbox One. The game will be out in other regions by June 23. Dead by Daylight is an assymetrical horror game that pits one killer against up to four survivors. As one might expect, the killer sets out to murder each of the four survivors, which do their best to avoid that terrible fate. ...
