The Switch 2 Direct opened with more details on the new Mario Kart game that was first teased back in January. Mario Kart World will be a launch title (June 5) on Switch 2. The big catch of the game is that it's somewhat open world. You'll actually be driving across the world to get to the next race.

Mario Kart World races will also feature up to 24 racers at once, doubling the previous standard. It's looking like the roster will be bigger than ever as well, including new characters like the cow from Moo-Moo Meadows. It seems there may also be a costume system for each character.
There is also a Knockout Tour mode that features back to back racers where those in last place are eliminated. It appears that there are new movement and trick options as well, with grinding on rails and racing on walls being featured in the new trailer.

The game is looking incredible overall, but it's also looking like we'll be paying handsomly for it. The MSRP for a physical version of the game will be $79.99. If you want a digital version of the game and a large discount, be sure to get the $499.99 Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle.
