Playtonic Games, the studio made up of former Rare employees, such as Grant Kirkhope, Chris Sutherland, David Wise, and many others, have officially revealed the new game they are making. Yooka-Laylee, previously known as Project Ukulele, will be a 3D platformer, staring the chameleon, Yooka, and the bat, Laylee. Pictures of the two characters have also been put up, as well as a sample of some of the music, loads of screenshots and gameplay videos, as well as a Kickstarter.

Today, the Kickstarter launched, originally hoping for $270,041. By now, they are well over it, in the millions, over twice the amount they were originally hoping for. They have added many stretch goals including languages added, exclusive character designs, transformations, release on Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One, and many others. There are many options as to how to back up the game, so I suggest you head over and check out the Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter.

It currently looks like the game is headed for a release in October of 2016, with releases already planned for day 1 on PC, Mac, and Linux, as well as Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U, if that target goal is reached. Will you be backing up the game? Check after the break for a look at some gameplay from the game! You can also find out more about Yooka-Laylee on the Playtonic Games website.
